Linda Hemwall Memorial Book Fund

Providing College Textbooks for Students in Need

Memorial Book Fund

About The Linda Hemwall Memorial Book Fund

Linda Hemwall was a beloved Evanston resident and educator who passed away in 2016.  Linda cared deeply about education and was passionate about the work of Evanston Scholars.  In 2017 her family launched the Linda Hemwall Memorial Book Fund to help collegiate Evanston Scholars afford textbooks.

College textbooks are expensive and are rarely funded by scholarships.  The expense can easily become a barrier to success, leading students to share textbooks with friends and delay purchase, causing students to fall behind.

While the Evanston Scholars students currently receive $500 per year from the nonprofit to go toward books and supplies, this amount is not sufficient to cover the full cost, which is where the memorial fund steps in to offer needed financial assistance.  By providing the opportunity to purchase school materials in a timely manner, we are definitely increasing these students’ chances for college success.

Donations can be made online using the form to the left, or checks can be written to Evanston Scholars and mailed to 1234 Sherman Avenue, Suite 214, Evanston, IL 60202.  Please note "Linda Hemwall Memorial Book Fund" in the memo.  Thank you!
